Day 17 Hornillos del Camino to Castrojeriz

12.6 miles on a very cool, overcast, slightly breezy day. A delicious walk through the green, empty Meseta.  The large wind turbines are seen everywhere along the  Camino. Today, on this long walk, you pass through only 1 village; it's entire survival is due to the Camino running through down it's narrow main street.

Last night I shared a room with 2 ladies from Ireland; their fair skin burned terribly in the sun yesterday; this morning they were bandaging their feet for another long walk. They are only walking 4 days, then returning home. I walked for a while today with a Canadian couple from the albergue; they walked 2 weeks last year, and are back doing 2 more this year. They had to stop about 5 miles from Castrojeriz and deal with his blisters. Don't know how they will finish the walk. In the middle of Castrojeriz, I met 3 Canadians (mom and 2 adult kids) getting out of a taxi. They inquired about a hotel, I said follow me. Turns out the mom is fine, the son has bad blisters and the daughter's pack is killing her back. They started in St Jean, but have bussed several sections, had the long taxi ride from outside Burgos, plan on walking tomorrow, then more busses until the final 100  km from Sarria. So not too many right now are walking the whole way, and there are a lot of walking wounded.

I had a great day and continue to be just fine.
